NORTH WOODSTOCK, NH :: Joey Doiron and the 73 Wild Willy’s Burgers/JBJ Machine team went to northern New Hampshire this past weekend for a double header at White Mountain Motorsports Park. After the feature event was rained out the last time the PASS North Series made their trip to the track, it would be two 150 lap events in one day. Doiron was able to do the unthinkable, and dominate both races to the win.
“We’ve been knocking on the door every week and lead a lot of laps but to finally get back into Victory Lane is huge for us,” Doiron said after the wins, “We tried something different today with our setup and it worked out, this team is great and we scored max points today, can’t ask for much more.”
After a runner up finish in the heat during the original event, Doiron started fourth during the first 150 lapper. Working his way through the top three drivers, he was able to grab the race lead away from Ben Rowe on lap 34 and continued to drive away from the field. His only challenge came from Derek Ramstrom towards the end of the race but Doiron was relentless and took home his first win of the season!
After winning the heat race for the second 150 lapper, Doiron had to start from the 11th spot due to his win earlier in the day. Trying to work his way through the field and conserve his equipment, he took his time but a caution on lap 58 bunched the field up and gave Doiron a shot. He was able to get by early race leader Richie Dearborn in the 80 car for the lead on lap 68. Fending off a few challenges from DJ Shaw, Doiron was able to open the gap and grab the second race win of the day. It was a clean sweep of both the heat and feature events for the young driver, who is without a doubt having his best season of his career.
A great point’s day for Doiron allowed him to increase his lead tremendously going into the final three races of the season. The team is back in action next weekend at Autodrome Chaudiere for the final race of the Autobus Quebecois Triple Crown Series and PASS North Series event. Racing starts at 5:30PM on Saturday night,September 7th, support Joey Doiron and see some excellent racing in the Thunder Valley National 200.
