GRUNDY, VA :: Ryan Stiltner has now won three out of four races at Lonesome-Pine Raceway after a competitor was disqualified for an engine infraction on Saturday night in one of two twin races at Lonesome-Pine Raceway. Stiltner qualified third for the first twin race and qualified on the pole for the second race.
Stiltner laid down a 16.629 in qualifying on his second lap which earned him the pole for the second race. Because of inversions, Stiltner started third in the first race and would finish in second. In the second race, Stiltner started second after an inversion. Stiltner would cross the line in second but the car had won the race, was disqualified due to an infraction.
“I hate to win a race that way but a win is a win,” said Stiltner. “I’ll take it. I would’ve rather won heads up. It’s just awesome to come away with two strong runs like this, win another race and build on our points lead. I’m really thinking we can win a track championship running like this.”
Stiltner entered the race with a 16 point advantage over second place which should expand pending the results being finalized and made official by track officials.
“It’s exciting to be leading the points and I hope we can keep adding to that lead,” said Stiltner. “A lot can happen during the season. It’s too soon to say we’re going to win this but we’re working hard for it. We’re out here to win races and the points take care of themselves when we do win races.”
Stiltner will be back in action on Friday, April 26th at Kingsport Speedway.
