DAWSONVILLE, GA :: Spencer Davis has some great positive momentum going his way in the last few weeks. That momentum continued on Sunday as he won the PASS South Pro Late Model race and finished ninth in the PASS Super Late Model event at Southern National Raceway in Kenly, North Carolina.
The teenage wheelman from Dawsonville, Georgia started off his double-header day of racing by taking the checkered flag in the 50-lap PASS Pro Late Model event.
“We had a real good run,” said Davis. “We started fourth and got up to second. Harrison Burton had a straightaway lead. We were able to run him down and pass him for the lead with ten laps to go and won by six-tenths of a second.”
It was the second week in a row that Davis visited victory lane. Last week, he picked up the win at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville, Tennessee.
Davis would start on the pole for the 150-lap Super Late Model event that followed his win.
“We had good start as we had the lead until lap 107 when Austin Theriault got by me after a lapped car held me up,” Davis recalled. “The caution came out on lap 115 and I got shuffled back after I almost got taken out for second. I fell back to 15th but rebounded to finish ninth.”
Davis was optimistic about his run and was hopeful for another podium finish.
“Austin and I had a half a track on third place. We would have finished first and second if the caution didn’t come out.”
Overall, he was pleased with his weekend and hopes to keep his momentum going when he competes in the PASS Super Late Model event at Anderson Motor Speedway in Anderson, South Carolina on Wednesday, July 3 and then the Southern Super Series’ World Crown 300 at Gresham Motorsports Park in Jefferson, Georgia on Thursday, July 4.
