TROY, NC :: Tommy Lemons, Jr. scored a top five and two top ten finishes at Motor Mile Speedway on Saturday night.  Lemons started the first of the two twin races in 11th after laying down a 16.094 second lap in qualifying and worked his way up to finish eighth in the first 125 lap feature and fifth in the second 125 lap feature.

“We felt like we had a really good car in the first race,” said Lemons.  “I don’t know if we had an alternator problem or what exactly was going on.  We just weren’t where we needed to be motor wise and power plant wise.”

In the second twin race, Lemons spent much of the race battling with other cars around the top five, even recording lap times that were faster than one of the cars that finished ahead of him.  He used a little muscle to work his way in to the top five.  On a late race restart, Lemons dropped to ninth and worked his way back up inside the top five again.

“We just missed it a little in the second race,” Lemons explained.  “We were a little on the free side.  We got up to fifth, actually got up to fourth, and got tangled up in a late restart and fell back to ninth.  We came back to fifth.  We’ll have to work on it and come back here in a few weeks.”

Lemons has three wins on the season and 17 top five finishes in 2013.  He will be back in action on Saturday, June 29th at Southern National Motorsports Park in twin 125 lap races.  He has two wins this season at Southern National.
