ALTAMAHAW, NC :: The Commonwealth invasion is just a day away. On Friday night, the lights will burn at Ace Speedway for the first race at the track being held by Langley Austin’s Moonshine Capital Promotions.
Drivers who had been competing at Franklin County Speedway will be making the ride down to Altamahaw, North Carolina where they’ll face off against Ace Speedway regulars and competitors from Bowman Gray Stadium and Hickory Motor Speedway who are also expected to compete.
Entering the race, Johnny Cash holds the points lead in the championship standings by six points over Brian Sutphin. Kyle Dudley sits third in points, 12 points behind Cash.
With new drivers entering the fray and old drivers opting to run elsewhere, the championship standings will shuffle up at Ace Speedway on Friday night.
Qualifying for the races will begin at 5:30pm and green flag racing will begin at 7pm with the feature event being a 75-lap race for the Late Models. Also on the docket are 25 laps for the Mini Cups, Street Stocks, Street ModZ, Mini Stocks and U-CARs and 40 laps for the Moonshine Modifieds. Following the race, America’s 238th birthday will be celebrated with a spectacular fireworks show which will light up the sky in Altamahaw. Tickets for the race are $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and kids five and under admitted free.
