Fantasy Predictions for 2016 Season
Top Three Drivers
1 –Mike Holden – A 50% win percentage in 2014 en route to a championship, backed up by three wins and another championship in his 2015 campaign leave little doubt where this team stands among the current crop at Evergreen Speedway. The #32 team have had the championship gates locked and the key hidden for two seasons now. With no changes in the organization, look for the LB Motorsports #32 to be at the front on any given night.
2 – Doni Wanat – The only real challenge Holden saw in 2015, Wanat grabbed his first win at Evergreen. Look for the #89 to come back stronger in 2016 with a clear goal of knocking that yellow car off the top rung. Wanat has the equipment and desire to stand atop the podium come September, time will tell if he will rise to the occasion.
3 – Jeff Knight – After a 2015 season that was derailed by a major crash in the Summer Showdown, Knight will be making his final full time run at a championship. The team behind the #70 leaves no doubt that this group can get it done. Knight has the skills and the crew, and with his LFR partnership has now put together the final piece of the puzzle. There is nothing keeping Knight from storming the castle in 2016.
Breakthrough Driver
Tyler Baker – After a top-10 points run and his first podium finish in 2015, Baker has teamed up with LB Motorsports for the coming season. Look for the #30 car to capitalize on the success of back-to-back champion Holden and his #32 team to propel Baker to the front of the pack.
Rookie Threat
Trenton Moriarity – Driving in the shadow of his 9-time champion father Tom, Trenton proved right away he has what it takes to win races by grabbing four wins en route to his first mini-stock championship and Rookie-of-the-Year during the 2014 season. Trenton backed that up with eight more wins during his repeat championship performance in 2015. Moving up to the Super Late Model ranks is only the natural progression for this young man. Look for the Moriarity machine to take the fight to the front runners.
Dark Horse
Scott Burby – Burby has been honing his skills in the mini-stock ranks, collecting five wins over the past three seasons, where he basically played second fiddle to Moriarity. Burby has proven that he has what it takes to run up front. Should Moriarity slip in any way, this guy will be there to take advantage of the situation and sneak off with that Rookie-of-the-Year award.
