Tropical Storm Ana didn’t hinder Dillon Motor Speedway’s Black’s Tire and Auto Service 200 on Saturday, May 9.
Darlington’s Ricky Locklair Jr. kicked off the night’s action by winning the Street Stock feature. AJ Hyatt finished second, and Ricky Locklair Sr. rebounded from an early-race accident to cross the finish line in third. Donald Fink finished fourth, and Ron Flynn rounded out the top-five.
Bobby Gower won the 60-lap Late Model feature that boasted 20 entries. The win marked Gower’s second win in a row at the speedway. BJ Mackey finished a close second, followed by defending track champion, Randy Benson. Chad McCumbie finished fourth, and Archie Adams Jr. rounded out the top-five.
After battling side-by-side for over half the race, Brian Owens was able to hold off William Haynie to claim his first win of the season in the Charger division. The two drivers in disbelief themselves of the intense battle, congratulated each other in Victory Lane. Ricky Locklair Jr. finished third, followed by Michael Elliott and Ben Watford.
Kyle Rivers won the Mini Cup feature. Karen Melton finished second. Tony Leviner, Ricky Locklair Jr., and Ethen Elder finished third, fourth and fifth respectively.
JR Moore won for the second weekend in a row in the Pure Stock Four division. He now has three career victories at the speedway. Jake Fitzgerald, Shannon Ward and Travis Altman rounded out the top-four.
On Saturday, May 23, Dillon Motor Speedway will host the Herald Office Systems 200. Late Models will be competing, and the Pee Dee Coastal Super Truck Series will make their first visit of the season to the speedway. Other divisions will be competing, as well.
