Cole Williams captured the guitar after a rocky start to the weekend.

The team traveled to Nashville for the Big Machine Records $5,000 to win Pro-Late Model race last weekend, where they lost a motor in Friday night’s open practice.  Since their Indiana based shop is 3 hours away, they relied on friends to get the back-up car to them.  After a late night and early morning the back-up car was converted over for the night of racing at the historic track.

The 100 lap main event would see Cole run in the top 5 from the drop of the green flag. The field became pretty spread out, but a late race caution bunched the cars back up.  Now sitting 2nd for a 5 lap shoot-out, Cole got a great start at the green to take the lead with fellow competitor Michael Bolden hot on his bumper.   From there, the youngster continued his sights to the checker flag for his 1st career win at the Fairgrounds Speedway in Nashville.

After the race, the young gun performed a polish victory lap to honor the late NASCAR driver, Alan Kulwicki.  “There are no words to express the excitement I have right now“, replied Cole with a huge smile. “I won the championship last year, but never won a race.  After Friday night, I didn’t think it would be possible to even race tonight, so to come away with the win is pretty awesome.”

Cole has a pretty impressive resume with numerous wins and championships.  He was also selected as 1 of 7 drivers to compete for the Kulwicki Cup and he has proven he has what it takes to overcome adversity at its finest.

“I’ve learned a lot about Alan Kulwicki over the past few months.  He has inspired me to reach for the impossible with racing”, said Williams.  “Coming from a small family owned team has its disadvantages, but when you have passion and determination it helps take you the distance.”

2015 is shaping up to be a great year for this young driver.

This weekend, Cole will be traveling back to Missouri for some racing asphalt action at I-44 Speedway where he picked up the 2013 NASCAR Whelen All-American Missouri state championship and rookie of the year as well as his first win this season.

“We usually have a pretty good car for I-44, hopefully this weekend proves to be the same”, exclaimed Cole.

There are so many people who contribute to Cole’s success.

“First I must thank the Lord above; He is my pilot on & off the track.  I also need to thank all of my sponsors that never hesitate to help; Cardinal Services, Bordeau Metals, Rite-Way Industries, JOES Racing, Wheel Chill, JEGS, Wallace Race Car Lettering, Bower & Associates, MPM Marketing, and many more.  Also, the people behind KDDP, they have been a huge help in this year’s racing with their support and shared resources. Definitely can’t forget my family, friends, and fans.  They are always there to support me.”
