Dominion Raceway will kick off a busy weekend of racing in the Richmond region next Thursday night with the Virginia Lottery 100 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model Stock Car race.

The event at the Thornburg, Virginia track, which is located just off Interstate 95 exit 118, kicks off a three day weekend of racing in the region.  The NASCAR Xfinity Series and Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will be competing on Friday night and Saturday night respectively at Richmond Raceway, which is located less than an hour south of Dominion Raceway.

“It’s a special Thursday night race, so no other tracks are racing,” Dominion Raceway general manager Edwin Pardue said in a track press release.  “It give drivers from throughout the region an opportunity to race on this fast oval. Our regular drivers taking on the best in the business makes for a great event.  Plus, through our marketing partnership with the Virginia Lottery; driver and broadcaster Hermie Sadler will be here to meet with the fans before the race.”

Heading into next Thursday night’s race, which will be the only Late Model Stock Car race held on a weeknight in 2018, Jeff Oakley holds a commanding point lead over Alex Brock, Michael Hardin, Mike Ganoe and Colin Garrett.  Oakley has won eight races on the season while Hardin and Garrett have one win each.

On top of NASCAR racing in Virginia, Dominion Raceway’s event also falls one day after ValleyStar Credit Union 300 Test Day at Martinsville Speedway.
