DJ Shaw and the Precision JLM Racing team fought through a long Pro All Stars Series North season, and had to overcome plenty of adversity and the grueling demands of racing against some of the best drivers in the Northeast. After their runner up finish in the “Ripley & Fletcher Ford 150,” their hard work was rewarded as they were crowned as PASS North Champions. While going into the race with a points cushion over six time PASS North Champion Johnny Clark, Shaw knew anything could happen and was going to run as hard as he could to secure the title.
“It’s been an incredible season, and to see our cars go 1-2-3 in the season finale makes it even better,” Shaw said from Victory Lane, “Today was just a fantastic day. I thought that last caution was going to hurt us, but we fought hard and got the finish we needed. Johnny (Clark) had a strong season, as well, and I congratulate him and his team for that. Today was our day, and now it’s time to celebrate. I’m thankful for my great car owners Rita and Julio Miglioli, all of our partners, my parents and this great team for all their support.”
After finishing a disappointing fifth place in his heat race, Shaw was still able to qualify for the race through the heat and started from the 15th position in the 150 lap feature event. The crew made some setup adjustments before the feature and the car improved tremendously. Shaw didn’t waste much time at the start, as he worked his way to the front of the field, by lap 50 he was in the top five and looking for more. The race only had one caution flag in the first 131 laps, as Shaw had to dig hard through a grueling 80 lap green flag run under the beaming 80 degree weather. By the time the second caution flew, Shaw had worked his way into the third position. Through the race’s closing laps, Shaw could have rode his way to the championship, but that’s not how Shaw prefers to race, as moved into second over David Oliver and tried to reel in eventual winner Joey Doiron. At the finish, it was Shaw who finished in the runner up spot, right in the middle of a Dale Shaw Racecars top three finish.
After 14 PASS North races, Shaw ended the season with three wins, 11 top five finishes and an average finish of 4.6. The team would like to thank each and every one of their supporters for their part in making this season a special one. After being competitive the past seasons Shaw has run full time on the PASS North Series, the team has come up just short of a shot at the title. From this day forward however, DJ Shaw will have PASS North Champion inscribed on his already impressive resume.
