While teams were preparing for Saturday night’s Thunder Road Harley-Davidson 200, a pop-up storm, which many at the track believe might have been a tornado brought heavy winds, hail, and rain.

Along with it came damage to fences and teams tents were left mangled all over the pit area. South Boston Speedway officials are already working to repair the damage to get ready for tomorrow’s race, which is the largest and most prestigious race of the season on the 4/10 mile speed plant.  They’ll have to repair several areas of fencing around the outside of the race track including a section of the fencing at the top of the grandstands.

Practice for today has been halted as the track works on repairs to the facility. Tomorrow’s race is still on schedule.
