The CARS Tour Most Popular Driver voting came to end on December 21st with two drivers standing atop their respective divisions after nearly 4,000 total votes were cast.
Kodie Conner won the Super Late Model Most Popular Driver award after running away with the votes in the final week of voting. Conner completed his 2020 season with every finish but one coming in the top ten and a season-high of second at Hickory Motor Speedway in August.
Conner also finished his season strong with a pole in the All-American 400 at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville in a co-sanctioned race and some of the best competition any Super Late Model event has to offer. Conner also finished second in the championship points standings just 25 points from winning the title.
Jessica Cann pulled off a tight win in the Late Model Stock Car Most Popular Driver award narrowly edging out Layne Riggs by just four votes. For Cann it was her second straight Most Popular Driver award in the two seasons she’s competed in the CARS Tour.
Cann had her best season yet in 2020 including two top-ten finishes among 20 plus car fields. Her career-best finish came at her adopted “home track” of Carteret County Speedway, where she finished eighth. She finished 16th in points after electing not to compete in the season opener at Southern National Motorsports Park in March.
Conner and Cann will be awarded the Most Popular Driver award during the CARS Tour banquet on Saturday, January 9th.
