The fifty-fourth season at Asheboro, NC’s Caraway Speedway kicks off this Sunday, March 10th at the .456 mile speed plant. The Southern Modified Racing Series headlines the event with a 125 lap feature for the “mighty mods”.

Several teams have pre-entered the event including two-time and defending SMRS Champion, Jeremy Gerstner from Wesley Chapel, FL in the “Shady Grady Racing” modified. Also entered is Tim Brown in the Jerry Hunt SuperCenter #83 along with Mike Norman, Burt Myers, Trey Hutchens, John Smith, and Bobby Measamer, Jr. Jimmy “Showtime” Blewett has also added his name to the entry list. Other entries are expected later this week to complete a great field for the season opener.

Other races Sunday include the 602 Modifieds and the 602 Super Limited series with many of last year’s veterans along with several newcomers in each division expected to compete. Also on tap are events for Mini Stocks, UCARs and Caraway Speedways new “feature’ division, the Late Model Sportsman division.

Precision Pole Award qualifying for the Modifieds begins at 1:50 pm followed by Late Model Sportsman qualifying.

Grandstands open at Noon for practice for all divisions. Pole Awards and pre-race ceremonies begin at 2:15 pm and the green flag drops on the first race at 2:30 pm.

Admission is only $20.00 for adults and youth 7 – 14 are $6.00. Kids 6 and under are free.
