Former Langley Speedway operator Bill Mullis, who is hoping to reach a deal to reopen the 4/10-mile speedway, told Roger Brehm’s Lets Talk Racing show that no deal has been finalized to reopen Langley Speedway.

Mullis’ appearance comes a few days after a report about the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour adding a race at Langley Speedway from Speed51.com.  Mullis addressed the report, as well as other rumors, calling it speculative.

“There is no deal until people sit down somewhere and an agreement is signed,” Mullis said on the program.  He went on to say, “There won’t be any public announcement from me until something happens and it’s a fact.”

The interview encompassed many subjects, including Mullis’ background in racing, which he talked about getting started out at King George Speedway in Virginia just a few miles south of Virginia’s border with Charles County, Maryland.  He spoke about his time at Langley Speedway and his relationship with the racers.

Mullis’ statements about the prospects of Langley Speedway reopening were optimistic.  He told fans to keep praying, said he hopes a deal will be in place to reopen the track for the 2017 season and stated there were multiple parties hoping to strike a deal to reopen the Hampton, Virginia racetrack.

Langley Speedway was closed during the entirety of the 2016 season after being in operation for 65 consecutive years.
