Daytona Beach, FL(December 10, 2012) — Spraker Racing Enterprises has announced that Clay Campbell, president of Martinsville Speedway, will drive the team’s Roush Yates-powered No. 08 Ford Fusion at the 2013 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season opener at Daytona International Speedway.
Campbell will be at the wheel of the same car that finished ninth at Daytona in 2011.
“Clay has competed in select events with us in 2011 and 2012 and he has proven that he is an accomplished race car driver,” said team owner Jeff Spraker. “He has an excellent understanding of the race car and certainly could have pursued a career as a race car driver had he not elected to carry on a family tradition by taking on the role of president of the historic half-mile Virginia track. He is truly a class act and we are honored to have him in our car.”
After competing in his first superspeedway event in a Spraker-prepared entry at Talladega in May, Campbell acknowledged that he found the high-speed, close racing to be a challenging and enjoyable experience.
“I told Jeff that I would definitely like to plan on additional superspeedway events and I’m certainly looking forward to running his car on the high banks of Daytona.”
Campbell and the Spraker team will attend Daytona testing this weekend to prepare for the Saturday, February 16 event at Daytona.
