Moments after posting a 23rd-place qualifying run for the Myrtle Beach 400, Matt Linker climbed inside his Limited Late Model and won the pole for the Myrtle Beach 250 with a lap of 20.292 on Sunday night
Linker’s car showed speed the moment the green flag was displayed for the lone Limited Late Model practice early in the morning, as his time of 20.619 topped the charts and put him in front of strong competition such as Brandon Clements, Chris Chapman and Jason Myers.
The only drive who could mount a challenge against Linker in qualifying was Austin Somero, whose managed to put together a lap of 20.358 to earn a position on the outside of the front row after spinning his car out coming to the green flag in Turn 4.
Jeremy Pelfrey will start Sunday’s 100-lap Limited Late Model feature from the third position, while Ryan Glenski and Davey Callihan will attempt to bring home a victory from the fourth and fifth position, respectively.
Rounding out the Top 10 was Clements in sixth, followed by Ben Stanton, Mitch Walker, Lance Funderburk and Mason Ludwig.
