Tire concerns are again creeping up in the Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS) in spite of the series switching tire manufacturers, going from American Racer to Hoosier.

Veteran racer Jamey Caudill, who races in the CARS Late Model Stock Tour, told RACE22.com Wednesday morning that he felt there would be more tire issues in Saturday night’s race at Concord Speedway and that the Hoosier tires are not as durable as the American Racer tires.  He also felt that drivers could race harder on the American Racer tires.

CARS Late Model Stock Tour competitors Todd Gilliland and Myatt Snider echoed those sentiments on Twitter.

Caudill said the drivers who had issues with American Racer tires also had issues at Motor Mile Speedway.

Chris Ragle, CARS Tour director of operations and marketing, said the Hoosier F-45 tires have been utilized at Concord and that he has not heard any concerns or received any negative feedback.

“The F-45 have raced at Concord and Hoosier have said they performed fine,” Ragle said.  “Guys that have tested have gave great feedback.”

Following the fiasco at Orange County, the CARS Tour switched from American Racer to Hoosier.  The decision to change to Hoosier was praised by many of the competitors who had issues at Orange County.
