RIDGEWAY, VA :: Kaz Grala won the third heat race for the MDCU 300 at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday afternoon, leading every lap from the pole in what was the most uneventful of the three qualifiers.
Grala received fast starts and restarts and used them to pull away from Mike Darne throughout the 25-lap heat. The qualifier was only stopped once for a minor incident involving Chris Johnson and Nick Smith.
R.D Smith and Brayton Haws earned the last two transfer spots and slowly pulled away from Tyler Ankrum and Barry Beggarly. Drivers that finished 11th or worse will have to earn a spot in the last chance qualifier that precedes the 200-lap main event. The following drivers advanced — Grala, Darne, William Byron, Michael McGuire, Mike Looney, Philip Morris, Brenden Queen, Travis Swaim, Smith and Haws.
