RIDGEWAY, VA :: Matt Bowling won the second heat race at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday afternoon outdueling Timothy Peters and Dillon Bassett in a tough but clean battle for the lead while more dramatics erupted behind them for the transfer positions.

Bowling pressured Bassett for much of the opening laps, passing him on lap 8 and never looking back, despite the variety of cautions that unfolded throughout the race.

The major kerfuffle took place on lap 11 when six cars wadded up at the start-finish line. It started in the back of the field when Ryan Wilson spun on the frontstretch and cars had nowhere to go. Blake Stallings received heavy damage and would not finish the race while Brad Kurth, Alex Yontz and Derrick Lancaster also received damage.

The transfer position was again the center of controversy as Jake Crum turned Bruce Anderson off of Turn 4 for the 11th position with seven laps remaining. Yontz again had nowhere to go and slammed into the outside retaining wall, effectively ending his race. Crum was given the black flag and sent to the back of the field for flagrant aggressive driving.

He would race his way back to 11th but missed the transfer by one position. Drivers that finished 11th on back will have to compete in the last chance race.

Bowling, Peters, Bassett, Matt Waltz, Josh Berry, Anthony Anders, Todd Gilliland, CE Falk, Eddie Johnson, and BJ Mackey advanced into the 200-lap feature.
