KNOXVILLE, TN :: After a breakout year last season, 18 year old Knoxville, TN native Chad Finchum has a full plate for 2013.  He has started out the season by attending the NASCAR Rookie Seminar in Daytona during speed week. Chad will be competing in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series as well as running in a few NASCAR K&N Series and NASCAR Nationwide Series races. He will be competing full time at Kingsport Speedway and Motor Mile Speedway

“We’re going to shoot for the track championship at Kingsport and Motor Mile,” said Finchum.  “That’s our goal and ultimately hoping to win the National Championship. A top five in the national standings would be nice.  We are planning on running as many races as we can along the way hoping to get as much seat time as possible.

Finchum is confident in the team and having experienced crew chief Dinky Torbett on board for the third year.  Having testing during the offseason and trying many different set up we are ready to see what we can accomplish on the track.

“We ran Martinsville and three other races last year on Hoosiers at Motor Mile,” said Finchum.  “It’s a big change on the tires but we are feeling more comfortable with the Hoosiers since we tested on them in the offseason.  I am excited about 2013 season and we feel like we have a good program and I am ready to give it all I’ve got plus some.”

Finchum raced Karts, Bandoleros and Legends before moving to Late Models in  2010.  Last season was a breakout season for Finchum who scored nine victories at Newport Motor Speedway.  Normally, Finchum travels to various venues.  This season, he wants to chase a track championship and a national title.

“I’ve been running Late Models since the end of 2010,” Finchum explained.  “I’ve run Greenville Pickens, Motor Mile, Myrtle Beach and Newport I am looking forward to returning to these tracks as well as adding some others.

“It would be incredible if we could win the National Championship,” said Finchum.  “I know there are big names in NASCAR history that have won that title.    It’s very competitive, there are drivers everywhere competing for it. This would be a great accomplishment that he would like to have the honor of adding to his resume.

“I’ve got to give a big thanks to everybody on the 19 crew.   We’ve put a lot of effort in it and we think this is going to be our year. We’re putting 110% in to it this year.  We’ve been workingg the bugs out so we’re going to see if we can dominate.”

Finchum’s first race of the season will be on March 9th at Kingsport Speedway in Kingsport, Tennessee.
