MOORESVILLE, NC :: Devin Jones scored a second place finishes and scored a pole in his first season running on the UARA-STARS tour.  This season, the California native is hoping to score his first career win.

“We had some good success and we’re looking to build on it this year,” Jones said.  “We have David King coming on board and we we’re working out of Tyler Young’s shop.  We’re improving and looking at success.”

Jones scored the pole at the Caraway UARA race on July 28th and has a best career finish of second which he scored at the UARA race at Anderson on June 1st.

“We’ve got one season under our belt,” Jones stated.  “We want to win races this year.  We’re planning on running the full season.   I think it’s possible to win the championship.  I’m looking forward to the season. David King’s a good guy and he’s been around a long time and knows what he’s doing so I’m looking forward to success.”

Jones is also hoping to get some seat time in the ranks of NASCAR this season.  He has plans to enter the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races at Bristol Motor Speedway and Martinsville Speedway.  The main goal for Jones is to score his first career UARA win.

“I’m looking for my first career win,” Jones commented.  “Last year we finished second once and scored a few top-five finishes.  We got a pole at Caraway.  Once we get one win, well get more but we’ve got to get one first.  There’s no reason to think we can’t this year.”

With the season opener at Southern National Motorsports Park approaching on Saturday, Jones feels he could get that first career win early in the season.

“I think we can win at Southern National,” Jones asserted.  “We tested last week and were really fast.  It’s a cool track, I feel good at banked tracks.  It’s like Newport but smoother.  The UARA tour is super competitive.  There’s a lot of good competition.  I think we’ve got a good shot at it but it is great competition.  We’re prepared for it, just got to see how it will all pan out.”

Jones got his start in racing early, racing go-karts on the tracks of Southern California.

“My dad was always a racer, he raced off road cars,” Jones explained.  “I started racing go-karts in Southern California.  We moved out here in 2007.  I had success in the Legends cars, finished 2nd in Summer Shootout, have raced some late models and ran some PASS the year before last.

“I’d like to be somewhere in the top three divisions of NASCAR five years from now.  We’re going to try with running some Truck races this year.  We’re focusing on UARA this year.  We just need to have a good season there, get those truck races and go from there.”

Jones will be sponsored by VeriStor Systems and HJC Motorsports.  He will be driving a car prepared by Young Motorsports.  The first race of the UARA-STARS tour is on Saturday, March 9th at Southern National Motorsports Park.
