MYRTLE BEACH, SC :: The final regular point’s race was run Saturday night at Myrtle Beach Speedway.  Three of the tracks four points divisions were secured as Shallotte’s Sam Yarbrough won the Whelen All-American NASCAR Late Model title for the second time in his career picking up nine wins in the Chad McCumbee owned racer.  The track champion will receive the accolades of NASCAR with plaques, points funds and documentations of their successes.  In addition Bob Lutz, owner of the track, will present each of them specially designed rings from Jostens.  The track will honor the champion in a ceremony during the November 16th thru the 20th Myrtle Beach 400.

Racewise is appeared that Justin Milliken’s night was for naught as he was hustling to try and repair power plant problems in the 02 late model.  As everyone else was on the track, euro-qualifying, his car was sitting on jack stands and didn’t seem as if it was going to make it on the track.  The car was lowered off the jack stands and roared to life, and he rolled down the pit lane as the last car to qualify.  The qualifying run was also his warm-up and shake down for the race.  The announcer called out his time with “he’s on the pole with the quickest time”!

Starting on the pole he never looked back over the forty lap run.  Everyone said, “That’s one team that never gives up as they will fight to the end”.  Brent Brinson rolled to second place fighting off young Matt Cox and Clay Thomas who was fourth at the finish.  Jamie Weather raced to fifth place with the track champion Yarbrough having his second sixth place finish of the year and his worst.  Sam Scarpelli showed once again his is a contender having run in the top five,  until being passed by Weatherford and Yarbrough late in the event as he raced to seventh.
