Hudson, NC(May 16, 2009) — Florida hot shoe, David Wilson came to North Carolina to compete as one driver in the Lee Faulk Driver Development program, but he’s quickly becoming the face of that program with his quick success and two early season victories.
Wilson started from the outside pole and quickly made his way into the lead passing pole winner and most recent winner, Dexter Canipe, Jr. and like his last victory he set sail never looking back. The victory for Wilson ended a five race streak of five different winners this season at Tri-County Motor Speedway and begins what many anticipate will become a dominant streak for the young driver.
Wilson was followed to the finish by Canipe and Greenville Pickens Speedway regular, Anthony Anders, who was making a rare appearance on the 4/10 mile track. RA Brown continued his disappointing string of finishes with another fourth place effort in a season where he was anticipated as being one of the drivers to compete for wins week-in and week-out.
Grant Wimbish, a Hickory Motor Speedway regular took the opportunity of a week off there to make a Friday night appearance and came home with a fifth place finish. Tyler Brown, Tyler Church, Megan Reitenour, Chuck Jenson, Julia Dawson and Monty Cox completed the short 11-car field.
Tri-County Motor Speedway’s regular Late Model Stock Cars will take a week off this week with the UARA-STARS Late Model Stock Car touring series making up a rained out event originally scheduled for April 10th. Regular racing action returns to Tri-County on May 29th with larger fields expected over the next month in anticipation of the track’s biggest race of the year, the Firecracker 150 on Friday, July 3rd with a 150-lap race paying $2,000 to win and $250 to start.
