RANDLEMAN, NC :: Ryan Wilson started fifth and worked his way to the lead during Saturday night’s race at Caraway Speedway. He appeared to be on his way to his first win of the season, dominating the second half of the race before being spun out by a competitor on the final lap.
Wilson qualified second for the race and drew the fifth position during a redraw. He patiently worked his way to the front and took the lead around the halfway point of the race. Wilson was challenged for the lead in the closing stages of the race where he raced side-by-side with a competitor until the last lap when he was spun. Wilson recovered to finish in fourth.
“It’s disappointing,” said Wilson. “This is a tough one to swallow. We had a real fast car. We raced side-by-side for several laps and I raced clean until the last lap. We had the lead entering turn one and we just got turned by another driver who went on to win the race. It’s disappointing for these guys and I guess it sets the tone for how we’re going to race at Caraway this year.”
Wilson’s fourth place finish was his third top-five finish in his third race of the season.
“We’d like to get a win here soon,” said Wilson. “That’s what we’re here to do. We were out front and looked to have the win in hand but we’ll just have to come out next weekend and get the win we should’ve got last time out.”
Wilson’s next race will be on Saturday, April 6th at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, NC.
