SHENANDOAH, VA :: Vincent Campbell got around Doug Liberman with 13 laps to go in Saturday night’s Late Model feature at Shenandoah Speedway to secure his first win of the season. The victory was Campbell’s second career win and his first of the season.
“It was my second career when and it was an awesome one cause we’ve had such bad luck,” Campbell said. “Two weekends ago, we were leading and got taking out by a lap car and had to put a rear clip on the car so it was a big accomplishment winning Saturday night.”
Campbell started the race in the fifth position and began working his way up through the field early but had to rebound from an early race spin to race back through the field and score the victory.
“There were 15 cars in the field and I qualified fifth,” Campbell stated. “On the third lap I was running third and the fourth place guy spun me. I came back through the field and took the lead with 13 to go and led the rest of the way. It was a great night!”
Campbell’s victory was his second career win. His first career win came at Shenandoah Speedway on July 13, 2013.
15 cars started the race in a track that has consistently sported solid car counts all season long. Despite the car counts, Shenandoah Speedway has been overlooked. Campbell is the third different driver to score a victory at Shenandoah this season. David Carter has two wins on the season and Doug Liberman, who won the track championship in the final season of competition at Old Dominion Speedway, has three wins on the season.
The next race at Shenandoah Speedway will be held on Saturday, June 28th.
