BLOOMINGDALE, TN :: The Hendersonville, N.C.-based United Auto Racing Association-Southern Touring Asphalt Racing Series Late Models will make their only appearance of the 2013 racing season at Kingsport Speedway on Saturday, Sept. 14 for running of the Model City 150. Also in action will be the Pure 4, Rookie Pure 4 and Legends divisions.
Heading into the Kingsport Speedway event, Dillon Bassett of Winston-Salem, N.C., holds just a two-point lead (802 to 800) over Garrett Campbell of Asheboro, N.C., in the UARA-STARS point standings. Third through fifth, respectively, are Travis Swaim of High Point, N.C., Ronnie Bassett Jr. of Winston-Salem, and Brandon Jones of Atlanta, Ga.
Completing the top 10 in the standings are Brodie Kostecki of Perth, Western Australia; Garrett Jones of West Palm Beach, Fla.; Chandler LeVan of Statesville, N.C.; Dylan Hall of Greenville, S.C., and Devin Jones of Mooresville, N.C.
UARA-STARS President Kerry Bodenhamer is pleased to announce that if a Kingsport Speedway regular can win the Model City 150 on Sept. 14, they will pocket the $500 Pepsi Challenge bonus in addition to the $3,000 winner’s paycheck.
Also expect to see Lee Tissot of Asheville, N.C. (2003 UARA-STARS champion), Daniel Pope II of Smyrna, Tenn.; Blake Jones of Sevierville, Tenn.; Kres VanDyke of Claypool Hill, Va.; Paul Nogradi Jr. of Clinton, Tenn.; all Kingsport Speedway regulars, in action along with several other chauffeurs from around the Southeast at the .375-mile banked concrete oval. Plus, C.J. Hulsey of El Paso, Texas, will be driving a Hayden Woods Racing entry based out of Piney Flats.
Adult grandstand admission on Saturday, Sept. 14 is $15, with kids 11-and-under admitted free. Adult tier-parking admission $15 per person (plus a $10 vehicle parking spot fee), with kids 11-and-under admitted free. Pit passes are $25 with a NASCAR license for the support classes, $35 without a license.
Grandstand and tier-parking gates open at 5 p.m. UARA-STARS qualifying is scheduled for 5:45 p.m., to be followed by support class qualifying.
A meet-and-greet UARA-STARS driver autograph session is scheduled on the front straightaway between 7-7:40 p.m. Following the invocation and national anthem at 7:55 p.m., the green flag will wave for the first feature at 8 p.m.
