Series PR Report
Hendersonville, NC(January 28, 2013) — The United Auto Racing Association (UARA) prides itself in providing a variety of tracks on their season schedule. Traveling to a wide variety of tracks gives drivers the experience of adjusting to traveling, racing on different surfaces and racing with local competitors.
Each track has is uniquely structure and has the potential of a jaw dropping race. Whether it is the Rock’s asphalt mile or Kingsport’s concrete .375 mile, the STARS always deliver a fantastic show.
For the past three years the season opener has been at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway, but UARA-STARS has decided to change this up for 2013. For the first time since 2007, the series will head back to Kenly, NC to host their season opener Southern National on March 9th. The Hickory visit will follow two weeks later on March 23rd. Southern National and Hickory are two of the five tracks that the series will visit twice during the season. The Annual Banjo Matthews Memorial 150 will be during the June visit to Hickory Motor Speedway. Racing with STARS will be the Allison Legacy cars and the Southeast Super Trucks scheduled to be on hand along with Donnie Allison and other guests for this tribute to Banjo Matthews.
In April, the UARA series will accompany the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series at Rockingham Speedway. The visit to the Rock is broken into a two-day race weekend. The STARS practice and qualifying on Friday, while racing is scheduled for Saturday before the trucks qualifying starts. The series will have their season finale at The Rock on November 2nd. The UARA season finale has been hosted by Rockingham since its reopening by Andy Hillenburg in 2010.
Along with Southern National, Hickory, and the Rock the UARA plans to make two visits to Anderson and Caraway. Normally UARA events are on Saturday, but Anderson Motor Speedway is known for their Friday night races. Anderson and Tri County on July 12th are currently the only events that will not be raced on a Saturday for 2013.
The other stops on the UARA schedule include South Carolina’s Dillon Motor Speedway and Virginia’s Lonesome Pine Speedway. The series also travels to Tennessee visits to Kingsport and Newport, and back to North Carolina for Tri-County.
With only 15 races on the books, the UARA administration is working hard to finalize the TBA event on April 27th. Fans can get all the latest news on race announcements by following them on Twitter, @uarastars, and “like” them on Facebook under the United Auto Racing Association.
