Greenville-Pickens Speedway fires up on Friday night this week with Twin 75-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series late model features along with four cylinders, pure stocks, super stocks and renegades.

The reason for the special “Friday Night Thunder” program on the historic half-mile is that neighboring track Anderson Motor Speedway, normally a Friday night track, has a Saturday program planned featuring Southeast Super Truck Series action, and the two tracks are working together as much as possible to bring the finest in weekly short track racing to the region.

“Sylvia (Porter) and her staff are very good people,” Greenville-Pickens Promoter Anthony Anders said, “Our staff and I want to work with them as much as possible to make racing fun and exciting for the fans and the teams in the area. We are happy to move to a Friday night show this week and we hope our supporters will come out and watch some exciting racing with us on Friday and then go to Anderson and see some more great racing on Saturday night.”

Trey Gibson and Chase Purdy have been the story in the late model stock division so far this season at Greenville-Pickens, with each having two wins so far this season.

Fans can expect veteran NASCAR racer Rodney Howard, defending late model champ David Roberts, youngster Dylan Hall and many more to put some heat on Gibson and Purdy as they look for their initial victories of the season.
