Driver PR Release
Rockingham, NC(November 5, 2012) — Travis Swaim brings home the 2012 UARA Championship title in extraordinary style! With drama unfolding early in the final Rockingham race on Saturday, it became abundantly clear the Championship battle would be close down to the finish.
Problems surfaced within the first five laps for the #28 Ford Fusion, but in typical Falcon Race team style, the guys pulled together and gave it their all-out best effort to make sure the points leaned in their direction in the end.
With Travis’ focus and patience, crew chief Jamie Skinner’s determination and the team’s perseverance, team manager, Ricky Viers credits the entire organization for the positive outcome. “It’s an intricate puzzle. Without each piece working together, it just can’t happen. Travis remained calm behind the wheel, while our crew chief, Jamie Skinner diligently took the helm and directed the team on exactly what needed to be done to seal the deal on winning the championship. We’ve worked really hard this year and each person within our organization gave 110%. I’m really proud and honored to work with such a great group of guys!”
With 2012 being the Team’s first year competing in UARA touring series Travis combined 13 top ten finishes, 11 top-five finishes, eight Sunoco Pole Awards (two being new UARA Track Records) along with two wins. The Teams average finish was 6.25.
Upon asking what winning the Championship meant to Travis he responded “It is a real honor to be the 2012 UARA Champion. It is one of the toughest series I have raced in and to be able to win the championship in my team’s first attempt makes it even that much more special. The list of past champions in this series is very impressive and to be able to add my name to that list is awesome.”
Congratulations to Travis Swaim and Falcon Racing on an exciting year and winning the 2012 UARA-Stars Championship title!
