Ridgeway, VA(October 12, 2011) — Martinsville Speedway always selects their own “Best Appearing Car” award for the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300, but this year we’ve decided to crown a Top 10 of the Best Appearing, because we feel that there was way more than one car deserving of the award and some of them didn’t even make the field.

Check out our list and let us know what you think of our list and who you think should have been on this list.

I know that I’ll catch some heat from people for making Frank Deiny the Best Appearing car, but if you got to see this car up close the detail was amazing. Justin Starnes from Star Graphics has proven that his work is incredible and he did another bang up job on this one. Though FDJ will need some new decals after that race.

#1 — Frank Deiny, Jr.

Though most of you didn’t even get a chance to see this car on Sunday, Brandon Baker had one of the best cars of the weekend. Mincey’s Graphics had this car looking sharp, but unfortunately a problem in practice had this car wrinkled up and unable to make an attempt to qualify, but we don’t think we should hold that against them.

#2 — Brandon Baker

Though most of you didn’t even get a chance to see this car on Sunday, Brandon Baker had one of the best cars of the weekend.  Mincey’s Graphics had this car looking sharp, but unfortunately a problem in practice had this car wrinkled up and unable to make an attempt to qualify, but we don’t think we should hold that against them.

#3 — Danny Edwards, Jr.

Danny Edwards, Jr. also had one of the weekends best looking hot rods as he displayed a simple black and white scheme trimmed in orange. Edwards always has good looking race cars, but this season he put himself in the top 3 on our list with a simple scheme.

#4 — Alex Yontz

Alex Yontz hasn’t exactly been known for having some of the most “bad ass” paint schemes over the years, but this season he’s turned that around with simplicity. Sticking with a black, white, grayscale look he’s had two of the best looking cars this season. At Martinsville his white scheme may not have been new, but it was among the best we saw.

#5 — Brandon Butler

This wasn’t even close to being the “Best Appearing Car”, but of course neither was Matt McCall’s plain scheme last year, but the track had their choice. Now Brandon’s car is pretty cool and good enough to put him in the top five on this list, but we’ll see where he stacks up at the end of the year.

#6 — Coleman Pressley

Coleman Pressley has never really had any stand out paint schemes on his cars, from the tradition black and red scheme to his throwback black and gold one in honor of his dad’s Alliance Tractors car. This year at Martinsville, however they threw something new at it and while I would have never thought gold, red and blue would work together, it seems to do just that.

#7 — Adam Long

Adam Long has traditionally had a plain red and white car and though he had some additional changes throught this season, he knocked it out of the park at Martinsville while keeping it simple. This white, orange and black scheme isn’t overly detailed, but it looks sharp and hate that it didn’t make it in the race.

#8 — Dexter Canipe, Jr.

Dexter Canipe, Jr.’s car wasn’t one of those that at first glance really grabs your attention, but after looking at it for three straight days it kinda grew on me. Though he could have maybe put himself further up this list had the car been black with these graphics on it or changed the number to black, it still looked sharp.

#9 — Robert Tyler

Yes, this is the same paint scheme that Robert Tyler has had all season at Caraway, but this isn’t the “Top 10 New Paint Schemes”, it’s just the Top 10 Period. This is another car with detail built into the design, in the background and gives his car a way better look than the usual plain black.

#10 — Tommy Lemons, Jr.

Of course, we’ve seen this paint scheme before, not just this season with Tommy running it at Motor Mile and Caraway for Hedgecock Racing, but last year at Martinsville too. Last season this was Matt DiBenedetto’s scheme, but Tommy’s numbers really set this car off and give it a fresh look.

Best of the Rest

Jeff Oakley #16
No, I’m not that into Camo, but this car with the blaze orange and camo looks pretty cool.

Kelly Kingery #57

This is probably one of the best paint schemes ever for Kelly Kingery and with a different number style on it it would have made the Top 10.

Tony McGuire #7

To be a Bob Unczer owned car, this thing was pretty bad, but again like with Bob’s other car it was the number that kept it out of the top ten.
