The drivers who dominated the CARS Tour’s inaugural events at Southern National Motorsports Park both claimed poles for the Orange Blossom 300 at Orange County Speedway.
Cole Timm, the winner of that debut event in Lucama, North Carolina, took the pole for the Super Late Model feature. His 14.023 second lap time was good enough to claim his second pole of the CARS season.
Quin Houff will start to his outside, followed by Christopher Bell, Dominique Van Wieringen, and Chris Fontaine. Bell finished in second place after a race-long duel with Timm at Southern National.
In the Late Model Stock Car field, Deac McCaskill took the pole with a time of 14.536 seconds. Brayton Haws will start second, followed by Jamey Caudill, Myatt Snider, and inaugural winner Todd Gilliland.
McCaskill led 148 of 150 laps in the first race of the season, but a late caution allowed Gilliland to squeak past to take the victory.
Stacy Puryear, the 2009 Orange County Speeedway track champion who won last week at the Rougemont, North Carolina oval, will start 10th in the Late Model Stock field.
With an even 30 cars in both fields, there will be no Last Chance Qualifier races in tonight’s event. The Late Model Stock green flag is scheduled for 7:30 PM, with the Super Late Models to follow.
