CALLAWAY, VA :: Saturday night’s racing card, which boasts 10 feature events, will be a blast from the past for racing fans. The Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Racing Club will invade Franklin County Speedway on Friday night while there will also be a $500 to win Any Car feature.
“One of the things we’ve been working to do is bring back the good old days of Franklin County Speedway,” track promoter Langley Austin said. “There’s no better way to bring those days back than to relive the past with the Southern Ground Pounders and Any Car racing.”
Along with those races, the fourth and final leg of the 4-Crown Challenge Championship for the Late Model Stock Cars will be run with a 50 lap race. Ryan Glenski currently leads the 4-Crown Challenge standings over Brian Pembleton and Johnny Cash. Glenski, Pembleton and Kyle Dudley have won the first three races in the four race 4-Crown Challenge.
Steve Teter remains undefeated at Franklin County Speedway in the Mini-Cup division, so, as a result, the track has increased the bounty on Teter from $100 to $150. That bounty promises to draw another large field of Mini-Cups to the track for the 25 lap feature.
The $500 Any Car race will bring back a blast from the past for those who have attended the track for years. The rules are simple, wear a seat belt and a helmet and there are no rules.
The Mini Stock division, which has produced great racing over the season, will also be in action as well as twin races for the Street Stock division and 20 laps for the TunerZ division.
“It’s going to be an exciting night for the fans,” Austin said. “We’re going to have a lot of cars and the action on the track will certainly pay for the price of admission.”
There will be a $1 for corndogs at the concession stands. Once again, there will be a $25/carload special. Fans who attend Friday night’s race at Motor Mile Speedway can bring their ticket stub and get a General Admission ticket for $5. Regular prices are $10 for General Admission, $5 for kids ages 6-10 and kids five and under admitted free.
