ALTAMAHAW, NC :: After two successful races, Ace Speedway and David Sell are teaming up again for the Third Annual Mischa Sell Memorial.  The race will be held at Ace Speedway on October 11, 2014.  The Mischa Sell Memorial has become one of the premier Limited Late Model races in the region.

The race honors Ace Speedway competitor David Sell’s late wife, Mischa, who battled breast cancer for six years before passing on January 21, 2012.  The race features a 74-lap feature race as well as two C-Mains, two B-Mains and a Last Chance Qualifier.  The Ford Focus Midgets, Bowman Gray Stadium Street Stocks and the Southern Ground Pounders Vintage Racing Club will also be in action.

“We continue to build upon our success and hope to continue this tradition for many years,” Sell said.  “I hope that people can find some hope in the fact that they won’t be forgotten and that’s why I started this race, so my wife’s name and legacy can live on.”

Those competing in and attending these exciting races will also have an opportunity to give back to an organization that is near and dear to the family of Mischa Sell.

“The Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation gave my family a chance to enjoy a new experience that allowed us to have a time out from the focus of my wife’s disease. Now, our family has an opportunity to give back.”

The Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation (JAJF) has become exceptionally important because of the lives they are impacting across the United States.  For Oncologists to “prescribe” JAJF as part of the treatment protocol is extraordinary. A WOW is what JAJF does when MOM is turned upside down (and the entire family) because of late stage cancer.

“To have JAJF praised nationally for the measurable and meaningful impact we are having on children who are facing the imminent loss of their Mom or Dad is humbling,” Jon Albert , founder of the Jack & Jill Late Stage Cancer Foundation, said.

Limited Late Model race participants will compete for a $1,500 payout to the race winner, while starting the feature will net $200. 2013 race winner Joey Throckmorton won $4,885 including lap money and bonuses.

Pits will open for prerace practice at 2:00pm on Friday, October 10th. Open practice will also be held from 10:00am to 12:30pmon Saturday, October 11th, with pit gates opening at 8:00am.  Pre-race activities begin at 1:00am with racing beginning at 2:00pm.

This year, four qualifying races will be held at four different racetracks.  Those races will be held on May 10th at South Boston Speedway, May 26th at Franklin County Speedway, June 7th at Southern National Motorsports Park and July 18th at Ace Speedway.  The winners in each of those four qualifying races will be guaranteed a starting spot in the 74-lap Mischa Sell Memorial feature race as well as a qualifying race winner’s trophy presented by Velcoita USA and a $100 bonus.
