Ridgeway, VA(September 20, 2011) — Well it’s about that time …. time to load up the trailer and head back to Martinsville Speedway for the first of two test for the Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300.
Tomorrow will be that time as the teams head north or south depending on their location to Ridgeway, VA, the site of Martinsville Speedway just outside the city of Martinsville. For Late Model Stock Car racers it’s the site that makes all the hard work of the season worth it, it turns a race car driver into a legend. One win at Martinsville Speedway in the annual Virginia is for Racing Lovers 300 is equivalent to winning championships at other weekly tracks and pays about as much as winning every race at a weekly track all season long.
With $25,000 on the line to winner of this, the biggest annual race for a Late Model Stock Car anywhere in the country, it’s easily the race that every guy young or old wants to win. This race has been a proving ground for rookie and veteran drivers from all over the region and for that matter all over the country for years. Drivers would trade an entire season of victories for one win on the paper clip half mile.
