Coeburn, VA(August 21, 2012) — One week ago Lance Gatlin’s nine race win streak came to an end and this week, new streak continued as he lost not once, but twice giving him three losses in a row and opening the door to victory lane to some new faces.

Gatlin, however would start from the pole of the first Late Model race, but this time only due to the invert after Jonathan Fleming had won the pole in qualifying. With Gatlin starting from the top spot, many thought that the young driver would easily put together win number 10, but Kingsport Speedway regular, Ronnie McCarty took the top spot from Gatlin on lap two and looked to be on his way to his first career Late Model win.

However, Keith Stiltner, who was piloting his son, Ryan’s Kingsport car that had competed in twin 75’s the night before, worked his way through the field during the caution filled race. The elder Stiltner would take the top spot on lap 22 and never looked back en route to his first win of the season in just his first start of the season on the 3/8 mile track in the Late Model division. McCarty finished second with Jeff Woodward third, Ryan Stiltner fourth and Fleming finishing fifth. Gatlin was only able to muster a sixth place finish in the first race of the night.

After an invert of three for race number two, Fleming, who won the pole for the first race, was inverted to the pole for race two. However, McCarty as he had done in race number one took the lead quickly asserting himself as the car to beat on lap three. Stiltner, following his win in race number one was quickly to second place in race two, but was unable to challenge McCarty for the top spot. McCarty would pick up the win, the first in his career over the elder Stiltner, who was chased to the line by Ryan Stiltner, Gatlin and Fleming.
