Jumpstart Motorsports 2016 season got off to a strong start this past weekend at Myrtle Beach Speedway with a second and a sixth place finish in twin races by Craig Stallard.
For Stallard the finish was his career best and as the laps clicked off he was in contention for the victory but had to settle for second place at the end. Jumpstart Motorsports team owner Tommy Lemons, Jr. was excited to see Stallard in the mix for the win.
“I looked up about lap 30 from working on my own car and he was battling for second and right behind the leader as well,” explained Lemons. “He got his best career finish and I really felt like he could have won his first race.”
Lemons and Jumpstart Motorsports will field Stallard in 12 more events this season. Jumpstart Motorsports will also field a car for Mason Diaz in the upcoming CARS Tour season opener at Southern National Motorsports Park. Diaz is an up and coming driver who’s worked his way through the ranks of INEX, first in Bandoleros and then in Legends cars. He will still compete in Legends cars and in Pro Late Models at Southern National Motorsports Park and other tracks as well as selected Late Model Stock Car dates.
Diaz made his debut in Limited Late Model at South Boston Speedway on March 12th finishing second. The following day he tested his CARS Tour Late Model Stock Car for Jumpstart Motorsports at Southern National Motorsports Park. Lemons said that he was fast right off the trailer and thinks he’ll be solid come race day.
“He was fast right from the start,” said Lemons. “Mason (Diaz) is a good kid and he listens and that’s important for what we’re trying to do. I think he’ll be really good come race weekend. He has a lot of laps around Southern National and I think that’ll help him a lot next weekend.”
Jumpstart Motorsports will field cars for both Stallard and Diaz next weekend at Southern National Motorsports Park’s CARS Tour 300 along with team owner Tommy Lemons, Jr. in his Lemons Motorsports entry.
Jumpstart Motorsports has additional seats open for other NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and CARS Tour events throughout the 2016 season if you’re interested in getting behind the wheel of the best race cars available for either series.
