MIDLOTHIAN, VA :: Southern National Motorsports Park will host for the second year of the Southern Vintage Race Car Nationals On September 19 and 20. We are glad to announce that the NASCAR Whelan Southern Modifieds Tour will again be a part of this big weekend of racing.
On Friday, September 19th there will be open practice and technical inspections for all vintage race cars. This is a great time to bring those vintage cars out for a day of practice and really get the feel for 4/10 mile high banks of Southern National Motorsports Park. If you want to see what racing was like in the 1950s until the early 1980s you better be there on Saturday night to see the vintage Sportsman and Modified cars compete in five different divisions of exhibition racing.
The vintage races will be 35 lap features. It will take you back to the short tracks of the 1960s to 1970s and you will then be thrust into the present to see the High horse powered NASCAR tour modifieds of today take to the track for 150 laps of heart pounding racing! You don’t want to miss this weekend of racing! It is just a few weeks away and big things are happening.
On Friday Sept 19, there will be open practice for all vintage divisions starting at 12 noon running until 5:30 pm. The fans are welcome to buy a pit pass on Friday and come mingle in the pits with the vintage cars. You can also pre-enter to save a little money on pit passes for the vintage cars.
We will also have event t-shirts and limited edition cups for sale at the track! You can go to the website and look at the event t-shirt and order them early cause when they are gone, they are gone!!All the profit from the cup and shirt sales will go directly to the Alzheimer’s foundation.
The Southern Vintage Race Car Nationals will also be raising money at this event for the Alzheimer’s Foundation with 50/50 drawings and other donation opportunities.
