The winner of the scuff tire Limited Late Model race could win up to $2,700 in the second commencement of the Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday, October 24th.
The 70 lap Limited Late Model race will pay $1,500 to win but several bonuses, including bonuses for leading laps, leading at halfway and a pole award makes the Spooktacular the richest Limited Late Model race in the region.
Last year, South Boston Speedway competitor Joey Throckmorton beat out Goldsboro, North Carolina’s Clay Jones and 2014 Limited Late Model champion Haley Moody, along with 25 other cars, to win the inaugural Spooktacular. With the possibility of winning $2,700, the second race could be even bigger.
Not only is there big money up for grabs, the race is also one of the lowest cost races to attend with the final finishing position paying $100. If drivers file their entries and pay the $50 entry fee before October 20th, they will receive a $50 tire voucher on their set of four scuff tires which normally cost $160.
The race will feature a $10 bonus for every lap lead, a $150 pole award presented by Sunoco, a $100 bonus for the halfway (lap 35) leader, a Hard Charger Award and bonuses for the best appearing car, worst appearing car and a random draw award.
Southern National Motorsports Park’s Charger cars will be able to race with the Limited Late Models in the scuff tire event and the rule book has been opened up to allow Hickory Little motors to compete and cars from Dillon Motor Speedway to compete in the race.
The Halloween Spooktacular will also feature races for the U-CARs, Legends, Bandoleros and an all female “Power Puff” U-CAR and Mini Stock feature race. There will also be a Halloween costume contest for age groups, trick-or-treat before the race and a “haunted house” exhibit at the track with more details to be announced on all these events in the coming days.
