The South Boston Speedway schedule has been released and its going to be a good time at the newly repaved Virginia short track with a few headlights to an overall great schedule.
The overwhelming theme of the schedule is a good foundation of weekly races, separated by two-week in most cases with another layer of touring series races as the K&N Pro Series East returns to South Boston after a six-year break, the series will be returning on May 6th.
The Pro All-Star Series Super Late Model tour will visit for a 150-lap race on August 12th. The series also visited SoBo this past season, with Jeff Fultz taking the win over Tate Fogleman, Dalton Sargeant, Chase Purdy and others.
Finally, the season finale at the new, repaved South Boston Speedway will be a visit from the CARS Tour Super Late Model and Late Model Stock Cars on September 30th. The visit will be the first in the series brief history. This season the LMSC Tour has been headlined by names like Deac McCaskill, Tommy Lemons Jr, and Josh Berry. The Super Late Model side of the series has been headlined by Raphael Lessard, Brandon Setzer, Cole Timm and Tyler Ankrum.
Other highlights at South Boston, a track that will be celebrating its 60th anniversary next season include an epic 200-lapper for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series on July 1st, a race that is sure to bring out the best drivers from the area. The defending champion of the South Boston 200 is Lee Pulliam, in 2016 the field also featured Timothy Peters, Matt Bowling, Brenden Queen and CE Falk in the 26-car field.
