The name of the game: tire management. Everything about tonight’s race surrounded that one simple phrase. Brandon Setzer was the one that figured it out.
Starting on the pole position, Setzer fell back once the green flag dropped; meanwhile, Kyle Grissom, who started 11th, charged to the front. He proved his dominance throughout the entire race until Tyler Church took a spin in turn two with 21 laps to go.
When the caution came out, the question was whether Grissom had anything left. It seemed like his race to lose, and that it was. Setzer was on the hunt for the lead after the final restart, taking over the lead with eight laps to go.
From there, he ran with it. Setzer claimed his second CARS Tour win of the season, claiming the trophy and a $5,500 check with his name on it.
“It felt good, you know. I didn’t think we were all that good in the middle of the race, but I can’t thank these guys enough for giving me a race car to go do this… I never really did [have the knowledge of having the winning car]. It just happened that way.” Setzer exclaimed. He credits luck for being on his side as he made his way to victory lane.
