RANDLEMAN, NC :: Ryan Wilson has his car dialed in and believes he’s fast for Thursday night’s Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown at the Richmond International Raceway. Wilson is hoping to carry momentum from a win in Saturday’s race at Caraway Speedway in to the race and have a strong run.
Wilson tested his car last Tuesday and felt good about the car.
“We have a really good car for Richmond,” said Wilson. “It’s an honor just to be able to compete in this event and race with some of these guys. We have a chance to show how good our car and our team really are.”
Wilson has one win this season at Caraway Speedway and five top five finishes in five starts in the 2013 season. He’s hoping to add to that list with a strong run at Richmond. Wilson had a strong run last year at Martinsville in the last big race he competed in where he recorded a fourth place finish.
“We know we can compete with these guys,” said Wilson. “We finished fourth at Martinsville last year and we have a really good car for this race. These guys are going to be tough. You know the Cup guys will do well and you know who the Late Model drivers are that will be tough. I think we can have a strong run though.
“It’ll take some work to get the car dialed in. It seems like everyone was tight at the test session so I’m not sure anyone has an advantage. This will be our first time ever racing at Richmond. I’d never seen the place until last Tuesday but I don’t think we’ll be at any real disadvantage. We really took advantage of the test time, made a lot of runs and made some good adjustments to the car. I think we’ll be in great shape.”
The Denny Hamlin Short Track Showdown is on Thursday, April 25th with the green flag scheduled to wave at 8:30pm EST. The race will be broadcast on radio and online on MRN Radio at www.motorracingnetwork.com and RACE22.com will provide live coverage of the race at www.race22.com.
