Ryan Wilson is one of the over 60 drivers set to join the cast of the all-star Championship Auto Racing Series (CARS).  Wilson will compete at least part time in the CARS Late Model Stock Tour while also running at other tracks in 2015.

Wilson, 23, who resides in Randleman, North Carolina, is a former Caraway Speedway track champion and has competed in the ARCA Racing Series.  Wilson competed at Southern National Motorsports Park and Motor Mile Speedway last season and, while he had some good performances, he went winless on the season.  That winless drought, which dates back to August 23, 2013, is something Wilson hopes and plans to snap.

“Obviously, I expect to win anywhere we go,” Wilson said.  “I expect to contend for wins.  I want to be up front week in and week out.  If we run top-five every week, we’ll win some races eventually so I want to be in contention for wins and be consistent.  That’s all you can ask for.”

Wilson says he will run the CARS Tour races at Southern National Motorsports Park in Lucama, North Carolina and Motor Mile Speedway in Fairlawn, Virginia for sure along with, possibly, a few other races.  Along with the CARS Tour, he will race full-time at Motor Mile and will run other races throughout the season.  His first race of the season will be on Sunday, March 8th at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, North Carolina.

Wilson says he’s impressed by the CARS Tour and the roster of drivers that have already signed up to compete in the championship series.

“I think it’s a really cool deal so far. I’m glad they’re doing it.  I think it’s cool to have a series replace the UARA series.  It sounds like they’re not only replacing it but making it even better than UARA was.  It looks really promising.  We’ll see how it plays out and hopefully run more races in the future.  It’s also cool how they’re doing a Super Late Model tour as well.”

Wilson says the competition level in the CARS Tour appears destined to be elite much like the competition level at Motor Mile Speedway.

“I feel like the cars on a weekly basis, it’s something similar to Motor Mile.  When you go there, you have a ton of cars and the best of the best.  I expect the CARS Tour to be like that and I expect them to have a lot of cars and strong cars.  It’s going to be tough to win those races.  Anyone who wins those definitely deserves the win.”

Wilson also plans to return to Martinsville Speedway in October to once again race in the Valley Star Credit Union 300, a race he recorded a fourth place finish in back in 2012.  Last year, he missed the field for the feature race after getting caught up in an accident during his heat race.
