Rockingham, NC(November 3, 2012) — Clay Rogers took control of “The Classic 3 Championship” UARA-STARS Series finale at Rockingham Speedway and never looked back.
For Rogers it was his first win of the season and great redemption from leading the most laps in the spring Rockingham race and spinning out on his own late. Rogers would be followed to the line by Dillon Bassett, who started from the pole and close to within 18 points of the championship on Travis Swaim who had engine problems and did not finish. Bassett was also crowned the UARA-STARS Series Rookie of the Year.
Despite not finishing the race, his healthy 71 point lead coming into the finale survived and Swaim picked up his first UARA-STARS Series championship in his first full season with the tour. Swaim finished 24th, one spot ahead of teammate, Mike Skinner, who also had issues.
Brodie Kostecki picked up his best career finish in third with Blake Jones overcoming all kinds of adversity to finish fourth. Jones, who narrowly made it out to qualify on Friday due to a blown engine, had an oil line come off today. After restarting from the rear of the field he charged to fourth. Darrell Wallace, Jr., who made his first UARA-STARS Series start of the season finished fifth.
Scott Turlington, Cory Joyce, Jeremy Burns, Tim George Jr. and Brandon Jones completed the top ten finishers.
