Layne Riggs scored his second consecutive late model stock victory Saturday night in a 75 lapper at Orange County Speedway.
The race was part of a Military Appreciation Night program.
Riggs won the pole with a 14.393 seconds lap at the three-eighths mile speedplant. He lost the lead early to Chris Denny and acually dropped as low as third to Denny and Chuck Lawson before making his charge to the front. He made an announcement in victory lane that may have been music to the ears of his late model counterparts. ” We’re gonna miss a few races at Orange County to run some CARS ( tour) races” he stated. Riggs said he will make his CARS debut at Tri-County Speedway in Hudson,N.C. next month.
Denny and Lawson chased Riggs to the flag. Lawson barely edged Terry Dease for the final podium spot. Grayson Massey was close behind the Lawson/Dease battle to finish fifth.
Boo Boo Dalton topped an impressive field to win the 35 lap limited sportsman feature. Dalton led all the way from the pole for his second triumph in three starts. Gary Young Jr. finished second for the third straight time in this class.
