With threatening skies all around, the Three Palms Speedway in Punta Gorda, Florida opened the gates Saturday afternoon February 28th to partly cloudy skies. Tracks all around Florida were canceling. Drivers started to make the trek to the speedway.
Three Palms Speedway is currently enjoying the “Bring Your Own Seat” for five bucks at the track.
Qualifying was quickly taken to the track as officials tried to out run the rain. It was slowed when the 26J of Brian Hiller blew his motor trying to make the feature.
After qualifying was done, the features rolled out to threatening skies. The first feature was Richard Nelson of Punta Gorda, Florida, taking his first win of the year over Lance Sober in Thunder Truck action.
TQ Midget action saw Mike Nelson finally pull off the victory in a close at the line finish over Mike Belusar.
As the street stocks took to the track for their feature the skies opened up officially ending the evening.
The features that were not completed will be made up this Saturday for the Outlaw 4’s, Bombers, Street Stocks, They will compete in double features. Also, on the card will be Pro Trucks for a 25 lap feature event. Rounding out the card will be the dwarf cars.
Pit Gates opens at 1:30 P.M. and main gates at 3:30 P.M.. Racing will start at 5 P.M. at Three Palms Speedway.
