Series PR
Mooresville, NC (December 17, 2012) — Officials from the Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series are proud to announce the 2013 season schedule on the heels of a very successful “open house” event at the Charles Mack Citizen Center in downtown Mooresville, North Carolina last Friday night. The 2013 season will kick off on Saturday April 6th at the Dillon Motor Speedway in Dillon, South Carolina and feature fourteen total events with the first ten setting the stage for the annual four race championship series to crown a series champion.
From there the series schedule makes its first of two series stops at the Hickory Motor Speedway in Hickory, North Carolina on April 20th followed by a trip back to South Carolina at the Anderson Motor Speedway on May 4th. The state of Tennessee and Virginia welcomes the series respectively on May 18th at Kingsport Speedway and Motor Mile Speedway on June 8th. A summertime show on June 22nd at Myrtle Beach Speedway closes out the month of June, before the fans of the Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, North Carolina welcome the series for the first time of the season on July 13th.
The one question mark remaining on the 2013 schedule is Saturday July 27th as series officials are working on several different options to fill the date at a track that will be new to the series. An announcement in the coming weeks will give full details of the event slated for that date. Second trips to Anderson on August 10th and Kingsport on Sunday August 25th after the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Bristol will close out the regular season portion of the schedule setting the stage for the four race championship series. Orange County Speedway (September 14th), Southern National Motorsports Park (September 28th), and the Hickory Motor Speedway (October 19th) will all host the first three championship series events.
The highlight of the 2013 schedule comes at the season’s final event as the series joins both the UARA and the NASCAR K&N East Series at the one mile Rockingham Speedway in Rockingham, North Carolina to make up the “Classic 3 Championship” presented by The Richard Childress Racing Museum on November 2nd. Not only will the event decide the 2013 Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series champion, but it will pay $20,000 to the race winner making it the highest paying event of the year and the weekend.
“We’re going “all in” in 2013 as they say in poker,” joked an excited Pro Cup Series owner Jack McNelly. “The dates and tracks we’ve come up with are a perfect fit for us going forward. You factor in we are now paying $10,000 to win every race expect Rockingham where we will pay even more at $20,000; the 2013 season should make for a very exciting year for both our fans and race teams alike.”
Off season activities continue with the series on Saturday January 12th as officials, teams, and drivers come together to celebrate the crowing of 2013 Rev-Oil Pro Cup Series champion J.P. Morgan and Rookie of the Year winner Dalton Hopkins. As with the “open house” the banquet will be held at the Charles Mack Citizen Center located in downtown Mooresville, North Carolina.
