CALLAWAY, VA :: Franklin County Speedway will host the biggest Mini-Cup race on the East Coast on Saturday night. The World Series of Mini Cups will feature several different classes of Mini Cup competition.
The racing program will feature a Junior Mini Cup race for youths under 18 and a Powderpuff Mini Cup for the ladies before the 30-lap World Series of Mini Cups. Along with the Mini Cups, all the regular divisions will race which includes twin 30-lap features for the Late Model Stock Car division and the racing program will be capped off with a 15-lap Any Car race.
Championship battles are coming down to the wire at Franklin County Speedway and Saturday’s races provide an opportunity for competitors to make gains as every feature race will be a double points race. Entering Saturday’s race, Kyle Dudley holds a 67 point lead over Wesley Thomason in the Late Model standings. Chad Ricker holds a 15 point advantage over Tony Housman who has been surging in the standings with his recent victories. Jennifer Chitwood inherited the points lead in the Mini Cup division by virtue of her win in the most recent race at Franklin County Speedway. Chad Conner, who has not been competing at Franklin County Speedway as of late, holds a one point lead over Eddie Rocke in the Street Stock division. Danny Bush sits in third, nine points behind Rocke. Brittany Cockram leads the points in the Mini Stock division while JC Morgan leads in the TunerZ division and Vincent Beall leads in the Rookie U-CAR division.
It’s also Duck Dynasty Night at Franklin County Speedway. Fans who dress up as their favorite Duck Dynasty character have a chance to win $100. Fans can also wear Duck Dynasty apparel or camouflage and get some of Uncle Si’s Famous Sweet Tea for free at the concession stands. Fans are encouraged to bring their duck calls because Duck Dynasty Night will also feature the Virginia Duck Calling Championship.
Grandstands open at 2pm and green flag racing begins at 5pm. Admission is $25 per carload, $10 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and kids five and under free so load up the family and enjoy a happy happy happy night at Franklin County Speedway.
