MYRTLE BEACH, SC :: Lee Pulliam scored the victory in the 50-lap Dash for Cash race at Myrtle Beach Speedway on Saturday night putting him on the pole for the 200-lap Late Model feature on Sunday afternoon and adding $2,500 to his bank account. Pulliam’s win came in his first start in race trim racing for Travis Kiker.
“The car was phenomenal,” Pulliam said. “We worked out butts off. Everybody on the team never gave up. We weren’t where we wanted to be when we got here. We changed all four springs, shocks, sway bar, wedge and track bar before qualifying and we made another change right before the heat race there and it really set the car up right. Still need just a little bit to make sure it will last on the long run. I’ve got to thank the Kikers for putting their faith in me and letting me drive for them.”
BJ Mackey was the fastest qualifier on the day but will not start the race as a result of an engine failure during the Dash for Cash race. Sam Yarbrough will start second with Justin Milliken, Brian Vause and Kevin Parsons rounding out the top five starters for Sunday’s race.
The qualifying format was altered drastically after an eight-and-a-half hour delay for rain.
Jimmy Herrington won the 100-lap Super Truck feature over Clay Thomas, Clint Fields, Marty Ward and Bryan Blackwell. Bailey Miles scored the win in the Mini Stock race over Michael Wells and Brandon Clements.
The Myrtle Beach 400 continues Sunday with the SouthEast Limited Late Model Series race and the 200-lap Late Model Stock Car race. RACE22.com Live Coverage begins at 10:00am.
