Two-time NASCAR Whelen All American Series National Champion Lee Pulliam of Alton, Virginia became the third different winner in the NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division at South Boston Speedway Saturday when he swept the day’s pair of 75-lap NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division races.
Pulliam won the pole and led all but one lap in winning the day’s first 75-lap race, pulling away from former South Boston Speedway NASCAR Whelen All American Series Late Model Stock Car Division champion Matt Bowling of Ridgeway, Virginia in a 16-lap sprint that followed the race’s third and final caution period. His margin of victory over Bowling was 1.291-second.
Bobby McCarty of Summerfield, North Carolina, Chad Finchum of Knoxville, Tennessee and Blake Stallings of Danville, Virginia rounded out the top five finishers.
Due to a drawing for an inverted start, Pulliam started sixth in the second race. Pulliam took the lead early, and with no cautions to slow the action, sped away from the field. His margin of victory over McCarty was 3.256 seconds, or almost a quarter of a lap.
Stallings finished third with Taylor Stricklin and Quin Houff of Weyers Cave, Virginia rounding out the top five finishers.
