Series PR Report
CHARLOTTE, NC (September 6) – Officials from the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) announced today that the Pro Late Models will become the sanctioning bodies newest feature division beginning in 2013. The PASS Pro Late Models will build on the platform began by the Carolina Competition Sports (CCS) Super Limited division in 2012. The PASS Pro Late Models will continue to employ a variety of chassis and engine combinations to allow racers an affordable way to compete in a touring division. The first event for the PASS Pro Late Models will be on November 24th at Concord Speedway as part of the 7thAnnual Mason Dixon Meltdown/Thanksgiving Classic. Starting on March 9, 2013 at Dillon Motor Speedway, the PASS Pro Late Models will tour regularly as a support division with the PASS South Super Late Models and will also stage stand alone events throughout the season.
“We’re looking forward to having the PASS Pro Late Models continue our tradition of marquee racing throughout the Southeast in 2013 and beyond,” said PASS President Tom Mayberry. “This year the CCS Super Limiteds built a great foundation and with slight rules modifications and procedure changes, we hope that the PASS Pro Late Models can take that leap to the next level. The PASS Pro Late Models will continue to be a great stepping stone division for youngsters looking to make the move from Bandelero and Legends cars up to PASS Super Late Models. But it will also provide local Saturday night racers who never thought they would have a chance to race at different race tracks a really affordable way to showcase their talents in front of different race fans.”
The PASS Pro Late Model will be open to both perimeter and straight rail chassis, with engine and weight rules aimed at making both types of chassis competitive. Also in an effort to keep costs down, racers will race on a restricted tire rule. All of the factors help make the PASS Pro Late Models one of the most unique divisions in all of short track racing.
This year, Lexington, SC’s Austin Leitner has shown how competitive the Late Model Stock-style perimeter chassis has been versus the more traditional straight rails by winning three races and currently leading the points standings in the Super Limited division. Youngsters like Tate Fogleman, Cole Timm, Walker Yates, Jeff Batten, and Tyler Dayton have provided great excitement as they hone their skills in bigger race cars. While veterans Kyle Beattie and Jody Measamer have shown that with some minor changes you can take one of these types of race cars and move up into the PASS South Super Late Model division.
The purse is guaranteed and all tech and officiating will be handled in full by PASS officials. Official rules for the 2013 PASS Pro Late Models can now be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.
